Choosing the best college to attend is one of the biggest choices teenagers have to make. And while they want to get it right the first time, they know in the back of their minds they can always switch to another school if it turns out not to be a good fit. The same can be said for orthodontic treatments. When we consult with our patients, they have to make a decision between wearing traditional braces or Invisalign.
Our goal is for patients to get the results they desire, and the rest is just a fun journey to getting there. So if a patient wants to switch from metal braces to Invisalign mid treatment, or vice versa, it is not a hindrance to the treatment objectives.
Although it is rare for a patient to switch during treatment, there are some who do for various reasons. Some may feel more comfortable wearing the aligner trays versus metal braces and want to make the switch, while others may need to switch from Invisalign to traditional braces if they are not compliant with wearing the aligner trays for the recommended time each day.
If a patient makes the switch, there is no—or very negligible—increase in treatment time and there is no extra cost.
While some orthodontists charge more for Invisalign, we offer both treatment options for the same cost so money does not factor into a patient’s decision. What is most important to us is that the patient is happy with the result and leaves with a confident, happy smile.
